According to Israelis from South Africa, he is one ambitious dude that goes with the flow or watches which direction the wind is blowing.

I saw the Forwards interview, the Moyers interview and the Al Jazeera interview. I also saw the request by Prof Dershowitz to debate him. I think the man is nothing more than an overblown buffoon and not even a great legal scholar or mind.

So I am still awaiting an answer to "What do you make of him?"

I do not think that Goldstone is a "self-hating Jew". He may well just be a self-loving and self-promoting Jew. :-)

Is he a Renegade Jew? I don't know for now. I am really not sure what to really make of him yet.

He may well have honestly tried to make a constructive contribution and may be disappointed that his revised "mission" was never formally ratified by his masters at the UN. That formal mission was, I think, to limit his findings to the period "27 December 2008 and 18 January 2009" and thus exclude the reason for war.

I am concerned that many parts of his report that should normally be just considered allegations are deemed to be "findings of facts."

Ironically Mary Robinson criticized the HRC mandate as totally one side which specifcially stated it was to solely investigate Israeli "war crimes". The HRC didn't want a neutral fact finding mission. Hence, she rejected heading the mission.:

" I felt strongly that the Council’s resolution was one-sided and did not permit a balanced approach to determining the situation on the ground. It referred only to “the grave violations of human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, particularly due to the recent Israeli military attacks,” and called for a mission to investigate “all violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law by the occupying power, Israel, against the Palestinian people.”

I was also aware that the UN Human Rights Council had made repeated condemnations of Israel over the past two years but had focused little attention on large-scale violations of human rights in other countries. This pattern of action and inaction by the Council has given greater credence to those who believe the UN’s highest human rights body is inherently anti-Israel."

The President of the HRC further stated ""I am confident that the mission will be in a position to assess in an independent and impartial manner all human rights and humanitarian law violations committed in the context of the conflict which took place between 27 December 2008 and 18 January 2009." Namely, Hamas' actions which the produced Israeli military operation in Gaza could not be considered.

Judge Goldstone lacks integrity and the bribe (UN consultancy salary) was to great to give up. He had to produce a report as defined by the mandate. or he would not have receive his monetary reward.

Some observations by others.

The legal principles arising from the Nuremberg Justice Case were codified in the Rome Statute which is the founding document of the International Criminal Court. The culpability of a willing judge within an inherently unjust system is covered by the Statute’s declaration that “individual criminal liability will be incurred in crimes against humanity and war crimes by a person…who knowingly aids, abets and otherwise assists, directly and substantially in commission of such a crime, including the means for its commission.”

After pointing out how Goldstone is presented as a man of virtue, an eminent jurist etc, he condems him as follows

Goldstone claims, over and over (the scale and frequency of self adulation in itself should set off alarm bells) that his report is all about accountability for crimes against humanity and the integrity of international humanitarian law. This is a subterfuge coming from a subtle and fraudulent apartheid judge. As far as Goldstone is concerned the report, as everything else in his life, is about self: self-conceit; self-aggrandizement; self-praise; self-righteousness; self-worth; self-adulation and, most importantly, self-promotion.

You see, Goldstone was one of those culpable judges, who served an evil regime, apartheid South Africa and now serves another evil regime, United Nations.

I am not sure on what we decided to call this kind of Jew. A self hater or anything else. The second World War name of Kappo may fit. I just look at him and all I see is a pathetic little weasel with no morals or scruples.

Kappo sounds like a good name. The Kappo's were responsible for leading Jews to the ovens, in other words led Jews to their deaths, and this guy sounds no different.
